Articulation

Articulation is how we make speech sounds using the mouth, lips, and tongue. For example, we need to be able to say the “r” sound to say "rabbit" instead of "wabbit.”


Cy-Fair Speech, LLC will provide clients with specific strategies on how to produce their target sounds and ample and creative opportunities for them to practice. 


Specialized

Specialized treatment approaches will be provided if appropriate including PROMPT techniques, phonological treatment approaches, treatment approaches for childhood apraxia of speech, and speech motor skills.

Fluency is the rhythm of our speech. We sometimes repeat sounds or pause while talking. People who do this a lot may stutter.


Cy-Fair Speech, LLC will provide clients with education on their speech sound system and how it affects fluency and rhythm of speech. Clients will be educated on the different fluency-enhancing strategies so that th

Cy-Fair Speech, LLC will provide clients with education on their speech sound system and how it affects fluency and rhythm of speech. Clients will be educated on the different fluency-enhancing strategies so that they can be a more effective and confident communicator. 


Specialized treatment approaches will address the emotional impact of fluency through implementation of journaling clients' thoughts and feelings about their stutter, in order to help them advocate for themselves and increase their confidence.

Fluency and Stuttering

Feeding is the process involving any aspect of eating or drinking. This complex process includes gathering and preparing food and liquid for intake, sucking or chewing, and swallowing, during which saliva, liquids, and foods are transported from the mouth into the stomach while keeping the airway protected.


Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD)

Feeding is the process involving any aspect of eating or drinking. This complex process includes gathering and preparing food and liquid for intake, sucking or chewing, and swallowing, during which saliva, liquids, and foods are transported from the mouth into the stomach while keeping the airway protected.


Pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) is described as “impaired oral intake which is not age-appropriate”.  It may be associated with medical, nutritional, feeding skill, and/or psychosocial dysfunction. 


Specialized treatment approaches will focus on the sequential oral sensory (SOS) approach to feeding, which is a step-by-step guide to eating a variety of foods.
